# Reset user passwords

> Learn how to reset user passwords and require a change on next login to improve account security.

To improve security, reset user passwords and require them to change the password on next login. This ensures that only the user knows their credentials.

## Prerequisites {#prerequisites}

You need administrative access to CubeCMP.

## Reset a user's password {#reset-a-users-password}

1. Go to `https://<your-portal-ip>/auth` and sign in with administrative privileges.
2. View all existing local users.

   Go to **Manage > Users** and click **View all users** to display local authentication users.
   
   
   

3. Select the user whose password you want to reset.
4. Go to the **Credentials** tab.
5. Enter a temporary password for the user.
6. To require a password change on next login, turn on the **Temporary** toggle.
7. Click **Reset Password**.

8. Confirm password reset.

   In the confirmation dialog, click **Reset Password**.
   
   
   

9. Confirm password reset.

   Check the success message: **Success! The password has been reset.**
   
   
   

10. Send the temporary password to the user.
11. The user must change their password on next login.
